House too small , add a storey !

Our client approached us for ideas to increase the habitable space on a single storey bungalow in Brixham . Immediately it was apparent that a loft conversion would be the most efficient method to answer the brief . However typically the ridge would normally run parallel to the front highway to enable dormer windows to avoid overlooking neighbouring properties . In this case the gable faced the highway prohibiting the standard design solution . After working with the client and the planning department a successful planning application was submitted to turn the ridge through 90 degrees maximising the available space and integrating pleasantly with the existing street scene as seen below .
